80s Action Stars That Should be in The Expendables

There’s no doubt that 2010 is the year that the action film genre makes a comeback.  Action movies have been dominated by super heroes over the last decade so much that one might start to believe that you have to wear tights in order to blow stuff up.  That is not the case.

Who says so?  The 80s and 90s say so, that’s who.

Saving action films from capes and masks is The Expendables.

Due in August 2010, the film wields a cast that pays tribute to the film genre that emerged from an age of members only jackets, President Reagan and ninjas.  Names such as Sylvester Stallone, Bruce Willis, Dolph Lundgren, and Arnold Schwarzenegger.

While The Expendables carries an accurate cross section of the action films of the 80s and 90s, some important names are left out.

Jean-Claude Van Damme

We’ve all seen 1989’s Kickboxer right?  This new movie could have Van Damme in handcuffs while we goes around kicking heads off.  C’mon!

Steven Seagal

Three words for you… Above the Law.  The man was seriously born to break arms.  People will have arms in The Expendables right?  Let Seagal break a few.

Chuck Norris

Good lord, how did they miss this one?!?  Signing Chuck Norris should’ve been priority #1 for this movie!  I’d give half my daughter’s college fund to see the Missing in Action star and Stallone punch each other for a good 90 minutes.  They don’t even need a fancy set.  I’m talking about Walker Texas Ranger and Rambo sitting opposite of each other in lawn chairs, trading punches and drinking Milwaukee’s Best.  That would be a movie to put hair on your chest.
